TIAA-CREF Presents 2006 United Hospital Fund Distinguished Community Service Award

On Monday, September 25, 2006, TIAA-CREF’s Chairman and CEO Herb Allison presented the 2006 United Hospital Fund Distinguished Community Service Award to Henry “Hank” Carter.  Mr. Carter is the founder of Wheelchair Charities Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for paraplegic and quadriplegic patients at Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility. The award recognizes Mr. Carter’s 33 years of committed generosity to the patients at the Hospital.  

The United Hospital Fund, a TIAA-CREF client since 1977, promotes accessible high-quality, patient-centered health care services benefiting the people of New York. More than 40 hospitals in the New York City metropolitan area are current beneficiaries of The Fund’s research, policy analysis, fund raising and civic leadership.
