TIAA-CREF Achieves Strong Rankings in 2006 Lipper/Barron's Survey
TIAA-CREF ranked seventh overall for the one-year period ending December 31, 2006 in the 2006 Lipper/
Barron's Fund Family Survey published in the February 5
th issue of
Barron's. The Lipper/
Barron's Fund Family survey uses an asset-weighted ranking system. Each family's funds were weighted by asset size and the family's overall ranking was determined by weighting five fund categories in proportion to their overall importance within Lipper's fund universe. TIAA-CREF fund family rankings are based on total return among 67 funds and are for the one-year period ending December 31, 2006.
By adhering to our guiding principles and consistent approach, TIAA-CREF's mutual funds performed competitively in 2006. However, we encourage investors not to focus solely on short-term results, but on building a well-diversified portfolio, investing consistently over time to potentially smooth the market's highs and lows, and rebalancing portfolios regularly to help keep financial strategies on track.
